Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) today announced the appointment of Jillian T. Weiss as its new Executive Director. Weiss is a nationally recognised transgender rights attorney and law professor who brings three decades of legal experience to the post. Weiss succeeds Michael Silverman, who founded the organisation in 2003.
The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund joins advocates across the world in commemorating the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, a day set aside to spotlight the ongoing discrimination and violence confronting LGBT people around the globe.
The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) applauds the Obama Administration for issuing a directive to all public schools in the U.S stating they must allow transgender students to use bathrooms that match who they are as boys and girls.
