Stonewall today marks its 25th anniversary with the launch of a guide celebrating older lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) role models. LGBT Voices, kindly supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, features the stories of 25 people who have contributed to the campaign for equality in Britain and around the world.
Welsh national rugby team takes a stand against homophobic abuse
The Welsh national squad and the Welsh Rugby Union have joined Stonewall’s NoBystanders campaign to help tackle abuse and bullying. The move comes after openly-gay referee Nigel Owens was subjected to homophobic abuse at Twickenham. Rugby’s finest have now taken a stand by joining thousands of individuals and organisations who are backing the NoBystanders anti-bullying campaign.
Stonewall: ‘Don’t be a bystander’ this Anti-Bullying Week
Stonewall, working with celebrities, workplaces and schools, is calling on individuals and organisations to tackle abusive language this Anti-Bullying Week by supporting the NoBystanders campaign. The campaign has already been backed by celebrities including Stephen Fry, Nicole Scherzinger, Perez Hilton, Sinitta, Clare Balding and David Walliams.
Record number of employers looking for gay talent – Starting Out guide
Stonewall last night launched the tenth edition of the Starting Out guide – Britain’s national guide of gay-friendly employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual students and jobseekers. Supported by Credit Suisse, the 2014 guide showcases 573 employers and Diversity Champions – 25 per cent more than in 2013, and the highest to date.
Stonewall launches new ‘coming out’ guidance for young people
Stonewall today launches a new guide for young people who think they might be lesbian, gay or bisexual. Launched today ahead of Saturday’s National Coming Out Day, Coming Out: Answers to Some of the Questions You May Have discusses in plain English issues including religion, having children, getting married and bullying at school.
Gay By Degree names UK’s most gay-friendly universities
Stonewall today names the six universities in the UK that scored full marks in Gay By Degree 2015. The publication is the only online guide showing how gay-friendly the UK’s 158 universities are and is an invaluable tool for lesbian, gay and bisexual students and prospective students.
