The broadcasting standards watchdog rejected three complaints lodged against RTE after the station apologised to John Waters and members of the Iona Institute for comments made by gay right campaigner Panti Bliss.

The drag queen, also known as Rory O’Neill, was accused of making defamatory remarks on the Saturday Night Show in January of this year.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland today announced it had rejected three complaints it had received in relation to the apology the show subsequently aired on January 25 apologising for Mr O’Neill’s remarks.

LGBT community in Ireland should layer up and next time that RTE airs homophobia they should threaten to sue RTE for defamation. To see if they are using the same speed to put Euro’s on the table and airs an apology to the LGBT community . RTE has just given the homophobe the right to decide what homophobia is (a person that never has experienced homophobia). BAI should grow some balls. (We stand by Panti Bliss).
